What we collect, and what we don't

googlycoupon is a place to find coupon codes, not a place that follows you around. This page explains in plain words what information the site handles, and what you can ask us to do with it.

What this policy covers

This policy applies to googlycoupon.com: the store pages, coupon codes, the sale calendar, card and wallet offers, our guides, and the forms you can send us things through.

It does not cover the stores we link to. Once you leave googlycoupon and land on a shop's own website, you are covered by that store's privacy policy, not ours. It is worth a look before you check out anywhere.

02

What we collect

There are only two ways information reaches us: your browser sends some automatically, and you hand us the rest on purpose.

Sent automatically by your browser

Like every website, our server records basic technical details of each visit: the pages you open, roughly where in the world you are, your browser and device type, the page that sent you to us, and your IP address.

Given to us by you

Only when you choose to use one of our forms:

  • Reporting a code or sending us one — the code, the store, and whatever you tell us about what happened at checkout.
  • Messaging the desk — your name, your email address and your message, so a person can read it and reply.
  • Price watches and code alerts — your email address and the store or product you want watched.
  • Partner enquiries — the business contact details you fill in on the Partners form.
We do handle
  • Pages opened on this site
  • Email addresses you give us
  • Messages and code reports you send
  • Which codes get copied, as totals only
We never see
  • Card or bank details
  • Store passwords or logins
  • What you actually bought
  • Your delivery address

03

Cookies and similar tools

Cookies are small files a website leaves in your browser so it can remember something. We keep ours to a minimum.

  • Necessary. These keep the site working: remembering your light or dark setting, keeping a form filled in, and letting pages load quickly from our cache. The site cannot work properly without them.
  • Measurement. These count visits and tell us which pages and codes people actually use, so we know what to test next. We read them as totals, never to build a profile of you.
  • Referral. When you follow a link to a store, that store or its affiliate network may set a cookie so it knows the visit came from us. This is how we get paid, and it is how the store's own tracking works.

Your browser settings are the master switch. You can block or delete cookies at any time, and the parts of googlycoupon you came for — reading pages and copying codes — will still work.

04

How we use it

We use what we hold for a short list of things, and nothing else.

WhatWhy we have itHow long
Visit recordsKeeping the site up, stopping abuse, and seeing which pages are worth the workUp to 12 months
Messages and code reportsReplying to you, and re-testing a code you told us had failedUp to 24 months
Alert and watch emailsSending you the one alert you asked forUntil you unsubscribe
Partner enquiriesAnswering a business enquiry and keeping a record of what was agreedUp to 36 months

We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not build advertising profiles.

06

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it.

A small number of companies handle data on our behalf, because running a website needs them:

  • Our web host, which stores the site and its server records.
  • Our analytics provider, which counts visits and page views.
  • Our email provider, which delivers the alerts and replies you asked for.
  • Affiliate networks, which record that a visit came from googlycoupon.

Each of them may only use the information to do that job for us. Beyond this, we share information only where the law requires it.

Some of these providers are based outside your country, so information may be handled elsewhere. Where that happens, we expect the provider to protect it to the standard described on this page.

07

How long we keep it

We keep things for as long as they are useful for the reason we collected them, and then we remove them. The table in section 04 shows the usual periods.

Two things are worth saying plainly. If you send us a coupon code, we publish the code, never your name or your email. And if you unsubscribe from an alert, we stop sending it and clear your address from that list.

08

Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may have formal rights over your information. We would rather simply offer them to everybody:

  • Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
  • Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
  • Ask us to delete it. We will, unless we are required to keep it.
  • Unsubscribe from any alert, using the link in the email or by asking us.
  • Object to how we are using something, and we will look at it again.

To use any of these, send a message to the desk and say what you would like us to do. A person reads it, and we aim to come back to you within 30 days. We never charge for this.

09

Children

googlycoupon is built for adult shoppers and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from a child. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.

10

Changes to this policy

As googlycoupon grows we may add tools or change how something works, and this page will be updated to match. When that happens we change the "Last updated" date at the top.

If a change matters to you — a new kind of information, or a new reason for using it — we will say so clearly rather than quietly editing a line.
